I happened across the most lovely book a couple of months ago. It’s called Extra Yarn written by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Jon Klassen.

It tells the story of a little girl who has a magic box (who wouldn’t want one of those!) and she shares the contents with everyone she knows. Of course, there is a bit of trouble down the road, but the funny thing about that magic box is that it returns to its rightful owner. And, the little girl just keeps on sharing. As with any good story there are multiple meanings.

I think it is a perfect gift for an entrepreneur or business woman, mom, any girl, graduate, artist or storyteller.

My only complaint about this book is that the character is a girl, and I would have liked to have it written with an animal as the main character so the story would appeal a bit more to both genders.

I liked this book so much I bought three copies. One for myself and two as gifts.

Whatever book or gift you choose, I hope you enjoy the experience of giving.

P.S. Maybe next time I see you I’ll have an extra yarn to tell you! 🙂
